Position Summary
The Department of Classics at the University of Georgia invites applications for a full-time tenure-track Assistant Professor in cultural history of Classical antiquity and Greek and Roman language. The teaching load is four courses per academic year.
The Department has operated a highly successful faculty-led summer Rome program since 1970. We are especially interested in applicants who have participated in summer study abroad programs and can teach Rome’s cultural history and its reception at sites in Rome and Italy. Compensation for teaching on the Rome program is in addition to a faculty member’s academic year salary. Candidates should be prepared to teach classes in introductory Classical Culture from Troy to Augustine, Latin, and/or Greek, and advanced courses in Classical antiquity and its Reception, as well as in areas of their research specialties.
