Position Summary

The University at Buffalo department of Curriculum, Assessment and Teaching Transformation ( CATT ) seeks to hire an Operations Manager. The Operations Manager for provides direct support to the Director in a wide range of critical business areas including: office operations, communications, facilities and space management, programs and events, annual reporting, and executive support. Additionally, the Operations Manager serves as the CATT liaison to the campus-wide community including the Academic Affairs Central Business Office on behalf of the CATT Director and provides executive support to CATT team leaders. The Operations Manager is responsible for hiring and supervising departmental student employees.

Key Duties and Responsibilities include:
  • Serves on the CATT Leadership team and provides executive, communications, and project management support on behalf of the CATT Director and leadership team, and, in this role, develops and implements departmental policies and procedures related to office operations;
  • Provides guidance and coordination for the annual resource planning process for the department, serves as liaison regarding budget, personnel and procurement matters between the CATT leadership team and the Academic Affairs central business office ensuring compliance with all policies and procedures; and develops event and program budgets and/or fees.
  • Serves as the primary point of contact for the university community and external entities with CATT .
  • Designs and supports CATT information management systems, for document retention and compliance to ensure operational continuity
  • In support of the CATT communications team, develops and manages internal communications regarding operations and project management.
  • Management of departmental space including permissions to CATT facilities and management of the Faculty Collaboration Studio.
  • Management of logistical and operational support for CATT projects, programs and events.
  • Supervises student workers.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor’s degree with one (1) year of significant professional work experience with competencies in the following areas:
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office, with advanced knowledge of Outlook, Word, Power Point and Excel.
  • Strong interpersonal communication skills, including verbal and written, active listening and critical thinking. Able to communicate clearly and respectfully with diverse populations including faculty, senior leadership, staff, students, alumni and guests.
  • Demonstrated commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in higher education with the ability to support and enhance a diverse learning and working environment.
  • High attention to detail and display accuracy in all areas of responsibility.
  • Able to handle restricted and sensitive information in accordance with university policies and maintain confidentiality at all times.
  • Possess a strong sense of accountability and be self-motivated. Must be able to work independently with minimal direction and exhibit good judgment.
  • Able to prioritize workload and complete multiple projects simultaneously within expected deadlines.
  • Possess and display a high-level of customer service to all constituents.
  • Able and committed to learning new skills as needed.

Preferred Qualifications

A minimum of 3 years of experience at a college or university setting with significant professional responsibilities including:
  • Experience with University at Buffalo policies, procedures, administrative systems.
  • Experience providing executive support to a department head or senior leader.
  • Experience with program/event planning and logistics.
  • Experience supervising student workers.
