Overview:
The Department of Medical Education at the Texas Tech University Health Sciences Center El Paso - Paul L. Foster School of Medicine offers an exceptional opportunity for an education-oriented clinician to join our interdisciplinary team of full-time faculty. The successful candidate will work with basic and clinical science educators to develop and deliver a highly integrated clinical presentation-based curriculum while serving as a mentor to students in one of our academic learning communities ('colleges'). Additional clinical, research and service activities will be based on individual interest, credentials and experience.

This position contributes to the university's mission through teaching, scholarship and service. The successful candidate will:
- Participate in the collaborative development development and delivery of the pre-clerkship medical school curriculum (years 1-2), with an emphasis on curricular elements related to the teaching and assessment of clinical reasoning, clinical skills and professional development
- Provide one-on-one support, feedback, and advising to medical students assigned to one of four academic learning communities ('colleges')
- Co-facilitate discussion-based sessions devoted to topics such as medical ethics, controversies in medicine, evidence-based medicine, critical thinking, safety and quality improvement, communication, humanism, empathy, wellness, life-long learning, bias, leadership, and professionalism
- Work closely with other faculty to develop and deliver an integrated curriculum which blends basic science and clinical concepts
- Employ a variety of teaching methods including case-based instruction, large- and small-group discussion, lecture, demonstration, simulation, and team-based learning
- Participate in the collaborative development and implementation of simulated patient cases including standardized patients scenarios, worked case examples, virtual patients, computer simulations and other formats
- Provide formative and summative assessment of medical student performance through a variety of methods including the co-development and implementation of objective structured clinical examinations, and rubric-guided grading of clinical skills with narrative feedback

Minimum Qualifications:- M.D./D.O. or equivalent
- Successful completion of ACGME-accredited residency training in one of the following medical specialties: Emergency Medicine, Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Neurology, Pediatrics, or Psychiatry
- Licensure or eligibility for licensure in the State of Texas
- Board-certified by one of the member boards of the American Board of Medical Specialties (ABMS)
- Established record of clinical practice and medical teaching
- Training or experience in curriculum development, student mentoring, medical skills instruction, and performance evaluation of medical students
- Experience with innovative teaching methods such as interactive large and small group formats, team-based learning, case-based learning, and problem-based learning
- Interest in medical education scholarship
- Participation in national organizations or committees devoted to medical education
- Emerging or established regional or national reputation for associate professor or higher rank
