Responsibilities:
The Department of Biomedical Engineering (BME) at The University
of Akron invites applications for a Tenure-Track Assistant
Professor position with a start date of August 22, 2022. Applicants
are expected to contribute to our core mission in teaching and
research. Successful candidates will be expected to develop an
independent, extramurally funded research program, have a
passionate interest in teaching and mentorship for undergraduate
and graduate students, and work to integrate research with teaching
at all levels.
Required Qualifications:
Candidates should have a doctoral degree in Biomedical
Engineering or a closely related discipline with a biomedical
engineering emphasis. Candidates are expected to have received
their degrees or completed all requirements prior to the start
date.
Preferred Qualifications:
Post-doctoral training is preferable but not required. Prior
experience and a commitment to continue working with and teaching
diverse groups will be valued. Preference will be given to
candidates with research interests in the broad area of
biomechanics. Exceptional applicants with expertise in other areas
of Biomedical Engineering will also be considered.

The BME department offers interdisciplinary research programs with active collaborations within the university and with other institutions, such as the Cleveland Clinic and Northeastern Ohio Medical University.
