Postdoctoral Associate

Job Description

Applications are invited for an open postdoctoral position in the Molecular Sciences Software Institute (MolSSI) in the Department of Chemistry at Virginia Tech. The successful applicant will work with Dr. Benjamin Pritchard to expand the QCArchive project to include functionality related to AI/ML methods, and to then use this implementation to generate original research in the area of biomolecular modeling. This position will begin as soon as a candidate is successfully identified and will be initially for one year with the possibility of renewal subject to satisfactory performance and additional funding.

Required Qualifications

• PhD in computational chemistry, computer science, or a closely related field. PhD must be awarded no more than four years prior to the effective date of appointment with a minimum of one year eligibility remaining.
• Publications showing an outstanding record of research accomplishments
  - Knowledge of the theory, implementation, and application of AI/ML to biomolecular modeling
  - Experience with the Python programming language and ecosystem
  - Experience with Python-based AI/ML software workflows and packages.

Preferred Qualifications

• Prior knowledge and experience with quantum chemistry simulation
• Prior experience with web-based APIs and programming
