The Postdoctoral Scholar will be part of the speech production lab at Syracuse University and will report to Dr. Jonathan Preston. The position is supported both by existing extramural grants and by the University. The lab’s current focus is broadly on assessment and treatment of speech sound disorders, including childhood apraxia of speech and residual speech sound disorders. The lab is engaged in several clinical trials across preschool and school-age children, and is studying treatment outcomes associated with Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing, ultrasound biofeedback, visual acoustic biofeedback, teletherapy, and speech motor chaining.
The ideal postdoctoral candidate would have clinical and research experience with children with speech sound disorders or related area (e.g., child language, fluency, motor speech) and an interest in learning more about clinical research, speech sound disorders, speech motor control, speech perception, and clinical trials.

THE DEPARTMENT : The Communication Sciences & Disorders ( CSD ) Department at Syracuse University offers CAA -accredited clinical programs in Speech-Language Pathology (MS) and Audiology (AuD), as well as a Bachelor’s degree in CSD, an AuD/PhD and PhD/ SLP degrees. Several CSD faculty teach courses that are included in the Neuroscience Integrated Learning Major for undergraduate students. Also, the department maintains an excellent, highly visible on-campus speech-language­ hearing clinic (the Gebbie Clinic) serving a variety of clients from the Greater Syracuse community. Many of our departmental faculty have appointments and maintain strong collaborations with neighboring institutions, including the SUNY Upstate Medical University, Crouse Hospital, and the Syracuse Veterans Administration Medical Center. These collaborations and facilities include access to imaging technology devoted to research in addition to a broad range of patient populations and resources.

Qualifications
Master’s in Communication Disorders or related field. Must have completed their PhD degree before employment begins. Job Specific Qualifications Responsibilities
Responsibilities of the Postdoctoral Scholar will include: Collecting and coding data from research participants, conducting data analysis, disseminating research findings through publications and presentations, and coordinating with students, lab staff, and collaborators about recruitment, research policies and procedures.
