Assistant Professor (code-C)

Southern Illinois University Edwardsville, a comprehensive state university 20 miles from downtown St. Louis, Missouri, invites applications for a tenure-track position at the rank of assistant professor beginning August 2022. We will consider applicants who have a strong commitment to teaching an a capacity to establish independent research in at least one area of mathematics that will produce peer-reviewed products. The applicant should have a Ph.D. in Statistics, Biostatistics, or in a related field such as Mathematics, Applied Mathematics, or Mathematical Science with academic preparation in statistics or data science. Applicants who are ABD may be considered. Duties will include teaching introductory and upper-level courses in statistics and mathematics; mentoring students through senior projects and master's theses; performing research; and contributing to the department, college, and university through appropriate service activities.

The Department of Mathematics and Statistics has 15 tenured or tenure-track faculty members and offers undergraduate program in actuarial science, applied mathematics, mathematics, secondary education, and statistics, and master's programs in applied and computational mathematics, post secondary mathematics education and statistics and operations research.
