Associate Software Engineer (P1) / Software Engineer (P2)



Position Summary: UDRI is seeking applicants to join a growing team focused on rapidly developing and integrating Open System Architectures (OSA) to meet Air Force ISR objectives. This position will need to perform a variety of software development and analysis tasks. Classification of this position may be at one of two levels: P1 requires a bachelor’s degree and no professional experience, while P2 requires at least 3 years of professional experience and will be expected to perform at a higher level of independence immediately. The qualified candidate will be responsible for working as part of a diverse and skilled technical team to develop and test software in high-level languages within open architecture environments. Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Requirements:
• BS degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or similarly relevant engineering discipline by Dec. 31, 2020 (or equivalent professional experience)
• (P1) Familiarity with taking high-level, abstract concepts to implementation by developing software applications (e.g. C/C++, Java) in Windows and/or Linux environments using modern tool environments (e.g. Netbeans, Eclipse)
• (P2) Three years of demonstrated experience developing software applications in an object oriented language (e.g. C++, Java, Python)
• Demonstrated, effective interpersonal skills
• Due to the nature of this position, US Citizenship is required
• Eligibility to obtain a United States SECRET clearance (or higher) is required for ongoing employment in this position

Preferred Qualifications:

Preferred Requirements:
• Advanced degree in Computer Engineering, Computer Science or Electrical Engineering or similarly relevant engineering discipline (or equivalent professional experience)
• Demonstrated, successful experience (academic or professional) with any of the following:
o Software development with Government and Industry standards, such as Open Mission Systems (OMS), Universal Command and Control Interface (UCI), Common Open Architecture Radar Programs (COARPs), Sensor Open Systems Architecture (SOSA)
o Experience with radar signal processing algorithms, particularly synthetic aperture radar (SAR), moving target indicator (MTI), coherent change detection (CCD)
o Experience with Modeling and Simulation software tools and environments (e.g. MATLAB/Simulink, AFSIM)
o Experience with Model Based System Engineering (MBSE) methodologies and tools such as Cameo/MagicDraw, knowledge of digital engineering concepts
o Applied artificial intelligence, machine learning and autonomy technologies
o Software development practices such as source control (e.g. Git, Subversion), issue tracking, continuous integration, agile frameworks (e.g. Scrum)
• Active US SECRET (or higher) clearance
