Job Summary:
The Coordinator of the Center for Student Leadership is responsible for the development and implementation of a wide range of student activities & events, leadership trainings, and community service programs. The Coordinator has oversight for advising the Student Government Association, developing and teaching leadership programming, planning the annual involvement fair, and other tasks related to student involvement, service and leadership education.
  • Perform job duties in accordance with Columbia College’s vision, mission and values, and contributes to the development of the Student Affairs Department.
  • Serve on division and college committees as requested.
  • Attend major college functions, including but not limited to Homecoming, Registration Day, Welcome Week, College Visitation events, Ivy Chain, Commencement, Late Night Breakfast, and Student Affairs Night of Recognition.
  • Coordinate, recruit, and design the Emerging Leaders Institute program and instruct the for-credit leadership courses.
  • Maintain records and tracking for registered student organization, administer annual student organization registration process and trainings, and serve as approver for all student organization financial accounts.
  • Develop and maintain effective relationships with student organization officers and advisors, and serve as a resource for those individuals.
  • Coordinate Hey Day, an annual campus/community involvement fair with over 500 attendees and vendors
  • Serve as advisor for the Student Government Association.
  • Co-Chair the Homecoming Committee and lead the planning and coordination of the College’s Homecoming events, and advise the student Homecoming planning committee.
  • Chair the Annual Night of Recognition Committee that coordinates nominations, marketing, and all aspects of event planning to recognize the accomplishments of our student organizations and leaders.
  • Practice superior customer service.
  • Fulfill additional responsibilities as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree in Student Affairs, Higher Education Administration, or a related area.
  • Relevant experience in program planning and group facilitation.
  • Ability to communicate effectively with and relate to all college constituents.
  • 1-3 years of relevant experience in program planning and group facilitation.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • 2-4 years of relevant experience in student activities, leadership development, teaching/advising, program planning and/or event management.

Special Requirements (if any):
  • This position requires varied work hours, including evenings, and weekends.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Must obtain class E driver’s license in order to transport students using college vehicles as needed.
  • Must meet and maintain requirements as an approved driver for Columbia College.
