Description:
The Department of Physical and Biological Sciences at Columbia College seeks a tenure track Chemistry faculty within the Day program beginning in the Fall 2022 semester to teach general chemistry courses. Customary 4-4 teaching load. Courses taught will likely include general chemistry, general chemistry laboratories, and chemistry for health-related sciences. Competitive salary commensurate with credentials and experience.

Columbia College offers both BA and BS Chemistry degrees. This position will also support several programs including the B.S. in Environmental Science, the B.A. and B.S. in Biology, the B.S. in Biochemistry, the B.S. in Forensic Science, and the Nursing program. The science degree programs at Columbia College have a strong history, and are growing. The Department of Physical and Biological Sciences has 10 full time faculty who are supported by a full time Laboratory Manager and a part time laboratory coordinator. The Department is housed in a modern, fully-equipped facility.

Qualifications:
PhD in Chemistry, or PhD in a related field. Prior teaching experience and a demonstrated commitment to sound pedagogical practices preferred. The position requires significant professional experience, ability for developing and effectively teaching undergraduate courses (including laboratory courses) in the areas described above, a commitment to student-centered learning, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and a willingness to use instructional technologies.
