Syracuse University invites applications for one non-tenure-eligible faculty position of Assistant Teaching Professor of Sport Management in the area of sport technology, stadium operations and event management.

The Department of Sport Management is a collaborative, interdisciplinary educational and research unit within the Falk College of Sport and Human Dynamics. The Falk College brings together premier faculty and researchers, along with industry practitioners, in wide variety of sectors within the sports industry. Teaching expertise should focus on sports technology and game-day management. A strong professional background related to sport technology, stadium operations, event planning and management and/or sport production and technology is beneficial. The department is interested in candidates who have the communication skills and cross-cultural abilities to maximize their effectiveness with diverse groups of students, colleagues and community members.

Qualifications

Candidates must have an earned Master’s degree or Doctorate in sport management or related field. A record of demonstrated teaching competence and scholarly accomplishment at the collegiate level is required.

Job Specific Qualifications

Additionally, extensive professional experience of at least 10 years in the sports industry is preferred. A strong business background is desirable.

Responsibilities

Primary duties include, but are not limited to, undergraduate and graduate instruction in the Department of Sport Management. In addition to teaching responsibilities, the successful candidate will help implement a graduate and undergraduate level curriculum; advise students that includes course selection and strategic career planning; become an active participant in scholarly activities and community service; and provide leadership and effectively handle other responsibilities associated with being a faculty member. The successful candidate will also work collaboratively with other academic units and departments across the College, campus, and the local, regional, national and international sport industry.
