Lecturer/Senior Lecturer (Educator Track) in Corporate Communications, Media Writing and Public Relations

We seek applicants with expertise in one or more of the following areas: corporate communication, public relations, digital marketing, and media writing. Candidates will have demonstrated knowledge of current and emerging trends in strategic communication; demonstrated current industry knowledge of corporate communication as well as experience in crafting media statements or holding a writing position in a reputable media organisation.

Qualifications: Successful candidates must have a PhD in Communication or a closely related discipline by date of appointment; evidence of excellent teaching; approximately 3 years of teaching experience in higher education settings; and experience teaching students from diverse backgrounds including international students as well as adult and professional learners in both online and face-to-face classrooms. Fresh PhD graduates can also apply.

Responsibilities: Successful candidates are expected to teach 220-280 hours per academic year. Successful candidates will be expected to teach in the Communications and New Media undergraduate programme and the new Master of Communication graduate coursework programme. Other duties include supervision of honours students and graduate students, and administrative service. The anticipated start date is 1 July 2022 prior to the beginning of the semester in August 2022.

Full Professor (with Tenure) in Environmental Communication

We seek applicants for Full Professor with expertise in Environmental Communication.

Candidates with previous industry experience in environmental communication are also welcome to apply.

Qualifications: PhD in Communication, Cultural Studies, Public Policy or closely related disciplines, with a specialization in studying the role of new media in the communication of science, risk, sustainability and policy concerning environmental issues such as climate change, socio-ecological systems (e.g., food, energy, water, technology), natural and human-made disaster, environmental planning, environmental campaign, environmental justice and governance, repair and circular economy.

Candidates must have an excellent track record in research and teaching, and demonstrate leadership in their fields commensurate with rank. Candidates with interdisciplinary research and industry expertise, and able to teach broadly into our curriculum such as feminist new media studies, critical informational studies, social computing and strategic communications, are especially encouraged to apply.

We seek applicants with expertise in one or more of the following areas: computer-mediated communication, human-computer interaction, digital storytelling and journalism, data analytics, machine learning, cognitive modelling, governance of information societies, and/or data rendering for communication.

Qualifications: PhD in Communication or closely related disciplines, with a specialisation in studying new media and social, cultural issues using computational methods, and evidence of excellence in both teaching and research. Candidates should be established leaders in their fields, encompassing computational methods and/or a research focus on computation in communications contexts. Experience teaching computational communications and methods at both the undergraduate and graduate level is essential.

Responsibilities will include departmental research leadership, attracting research funding, mentoring junior and mid-level faculty, as well as teaching 110-140 hours (3 courses) per academic year.
