Department Summary
The Office of the Vice President for Finance and Administration (VPFA) and its 25+ departments provide critical financial, facilities management, human resource and administrative services to our campus. Its employees perform a wide range of functions including offering essential financial tools and support to the university's many departments, providing key resources to employees, and keeping campus safe, clean, accessible and beautiful.

Position Summary
The Associate Vice President and Chief of Staff (AVP/COS) is a strategic partner to the VPFA with regard to operations, internal and external communication, and strategic planning. The AVP/COS is a member of the VPFA executive leadership team, and works closely with the other associate vice presidents reporting to the VPFA to develop and implement portfolio goals in support of the VPFA's initiatives. The AVP/COS provides leadership and coordination for projects within and outside the VPFA portfolio, and identifies and resolves issues impacting multiple campus units.

The AVP/COS is responsible for cultivating and maintaining strong professional relationships with key personnel in all areas of the university, including other chiefs of staff and those reporting directly to the VPFA. The AVP/COS is responsible for the day-to-day management of the office of the VPFA.

The AVP/COS provides regular oversight and direction to the VPFA Campus Services portfolio, which includes three units that support the university by providing essential services to the campus community— Print Services, Transportation Services, and the Vivian Olum Child Development Center—as well as the —Finance and Administration Shared Services department, which provides critical business services to units within and outside of the VPFA portfolio. In all, these units include about 95 employees and have operating budgets totaling over $15M.

Minimum Requirements
  • Bachelor's degree.
  • Five years of management experience
