The Department of Screenwriting at Loyola Marymount University’s
School of Film and Television is searching for an accomplished
writer-producer/educator with extensive professional experience to
join our faculty. This is a full-time, tenure-track position
with competitive salary and benefits. The appointment would
begin in Fall 2022.
The successful candidate should be a working professional in the
commercial entertainment industry with experience on TV series in
the role of producer, which ideally includes Executive Producer or
Showrunner, for network, cable and/or streaming media.
Experience in shorts and feature films would be a plus. An
MFA or terminal degree is required.
The successful hire will teach courses in Screenwriting,
particularly in the ‘Writing and Producing for Television’ MFA
program. Skills covered will include writing both spec
scripts and original pilot scripts, developing a pitch deck,
producing a sizzle reel, and perfecting an industry-ready verbal
pitch. The successful hire will be expected to maintain a
high level of professional teaching and engage in the transition of
students into the entertainment industry by recruiting mentors and
participating in our professional transition programs. In
addition, service to the university and the department in
accordance with tenure-line leadership standards is expected.
