Position Description

The School of Nursing at California State University, Dominguez Hills (CSUDH), invites highly qualified, motivated, and experienced nurse educator, applicants for a pool of part-time teaching appointments.

School of Nursing

The School of Nursing provides education for Registered Nurses, predominantly through online courses. The degree programs are: RN-BSN and MSN with role options in Administration, Education, Family Nurse Practitioner, and Clinical Nurse Specialist in Pediatrics, Neo-Natal or Adult-Gerontology Nursing. . Campus presence is generally not required.

The Position

The temporary faculty pool is continuously open, and positions are filled as needed, based on student enrollment and the academic needs of the School. Candidates may need to be available to begin teaching on short notice. The Fall term begins in late August and ends in mid-December; the Spring term begins mid-January and ends in mid-May. Opportunities for teaching during the Summer Sessions may also be available.

Responsibilities

General responsibilities for part-time faculty include developing and delivering course content which is supportive of student learning and promotes achievement of learning objectives identified in course syllabi. Faculty are expected to monitor student progress, be available to students for clarifying assignments and addressing other student needs and assuring that students progress through the course in an effective and efficient manner. Lead Course Content Experts and Program Coordinators are available to assist all faculty in these activities.



Qualifications

Required Qualifications
  • A Master's degree in the field relevant to the curriculum or related discipline.
  • Preference will be given to candidates with prior teaching experience at the college or university level.
  • Applicants must have experience in teaching students from diverse ages, socioeconomic, cultural, and academic backgrounds.

Preferred Qualifications
  • A DNP, Ph.D., or extensive professional experience is required for teaching upper-division core courses (300- or 400-level).



Employment Requirement - Background Check

Satisfactory completion of a background check (including a criminal records check) is required for employment. CSU will make a conditional offer of employment, which may be rescinded if the background check reveals disqualifying information, and/or it is discovered that the candidate knowingly withheld or falsified information. Failure to satisfactorily complete the background check may affect the continued employment of a current CSU employee who was conditionally offered the position.

The person holding this position is considered a ‘mandated reporter' under the California Child Abuse and Neglect Reporting Act (CANRA) and is required to comply with the requirements set forth in CSU Executive Order 1083, revised July 21, 2017, as a condition of employment.

The US Equivalency certification is used to validate foreign studies from an academic credential evaluation agency and is evaluated on foreign studies and deemed to be equivalent to degrees from the United States. The certification must translate the information in English, and confirm that your highest terminal degree is US Equivalent to a US terminal degree (i.e., Bachelor's, Master's, Doctorate's, Doctor's of Philosophy).
