Primary Purpose: 

Administering all non-academic aspects of the clinic and externship program. 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 

  • Mentor and advise students on course opportunities and experiential education.
  • Manage operations on a daily, weekly, monthly, yearly basis including innovation and future planning.
  • Understand ABA guidance, compliance issues and best practices for experiential education and maintain a working knowledge around evolving subject matter.
  • Coordinate with faculty and community partners to find appropriate placements for students and assist with additional application and background check requirements; and
  • Manage website content, online application system, and communications with students, supervising attorneys, and professors.
  • Administration of registration process for Externships and Clinics.
  • Assist students with Florida Supreme Court Certification for all Clinic Students.
  • Special Duties for Clinics, including reviewing weekly timesheets and reflective papers.
  • Organize and attend community legal outreach and educational programs.
  • Recruit, train and manage student volunteers and volunteer attorneys.
  • Maintains a collaborative work environment.
  • Attend local, regional and national conferences on experiential education.
  • Draft professional correspondence and annual reports.
  • Collaborate with the Dean’s office on administration of pro bono credits.
  • Maintains a collaborative work environment and works well with others.
  • All other duties as assigned by Director, in collaboration with the Dean’s office.

Qualifications

J.D. required.  Preferably a member in good standing of The Florida Bar, with one to five years’ experience; the preferred candidate will have experience in developing and running corporate-training or CLE programs, or demonstrate the willingness and skill set necessary to develop such expertise. The candidate is expected to engage with judges, community partners, outreach and network with local bar associations and practitioners in the field. Develop new placement opportunities and plan and host events for both students, professors and practitioners. The candidate must be able to multi-task and have excellent organizational and computer skills, be detailed oriented and follow through with ongoing projects. The candidate should be a self-starter with motivation to create and innovate. A high level of organization, flexibility, judgment and interpersonal skills are required. Works to build an environment that promotes and facilitates the success of diversity and inclusion. Strong written and verbal communication skills, and presentation ability, required.  Some travel and schedule flexibility required.
