The University of Maryland School of Nursing (UMSON) at the Universities at Shady Grove (USG) in Rockville, Maryland is currently recruiting for an Assistant Professor, Adult Health/Medical Surgical Nursing

The Universities at Shady Grove (USG) is a collaboration of nine public degree-granting institutions, offering some of the top programs from across the state. USG admits 88 baccalaureate nursing students per semester. The Assistant or Associate Professor is responsible for teaching in one or more of the following core courses: fundamentals, medical surgical, co-morbidities or senior practicum within the baccalaureate program each semester, achieving positive program outcomes and course objectives.

UMB requires all faculty, staff, and students to be vaccinated against COVID-19. Exemptions for medical or religious reasons will be processed through Human Resources

Primary Responsibilities:
  • Provides classroom and lab instruction that focuses on content, method of delivery, evaluation of students, and recommendations for curricular adjustments and modifications.
  • Participates in the planning, implementation and evaluation of simulations relative to courses taught.
  • Provides instruction and coordination in clinical courses.
  • Uses evidence-based best practices for educating students.
  • May serve as a course director or co-director.
  • Advises and mentors students.
  • Contributes to the collaborative efforts of an inter-professional team, serving on departmental and school committees.
Qualifications :

Qualifications:
  • Doctoral degree in nursing or a related field
  • Clinical specialty in Adult Health/Medical Surgical nursing
  • Two (2) years of recent active clinical practice within specialty
  • Current license to practice nursing in Maryland required
  • Prior academic experience
  • Spirit of inquiry and innovation related to teaching and learning
  • Demonstrated technological competence and the ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Experience in teaching in online formats
