MediaHub Coordinator
Vanguard University

POSITION SUMMARY:
The MediaHub is a student support center for digital content creation and filmmaking technology. The MediaHub supports undergraduate students enrolled in the Communication major and associated minors.

The MediaHub Coordinator provides critical hands-on training to students on a variety of film production equipment, postproduction software platforms, and digital content creation tools through group workshops, course labs, and one-on-one tutorials. The MediaHub Coordinator also trains and supervises student workers as peer mentors, supervises the facilities in which the MediaHub is housed, oversees the equipment inventory and checkout, supports student projects, and assists the department with campus outreach as needed.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Key Responsibilities
1. Technical Support and Digital Skills Training for all Communication students

  • Teaches group workshops and labs on film production protocols, safety and equipment

  • Teaches group workshops on content creation tools

  • Schedules one-on-one tutorials per student requests

    2. Facility Supervision

  • Reserves specialized spaces (audio bay/booth, insert stage, edit bays)

  • Preps specialized spaces for course & tutorial usage

  • Ensures student access to facilities

  • Ensures functionality of training spaces

    3. Training and supervision of student workers and peer tutors

  • Interviews and hires qualified students

  • Holds fall semester training camp

  • Creates regular training and certification opportunities

  • Makes weekly student worker schedules

  • Verifies student worker timecards

  • Supervises students weekly

    4. Provides oversight for the department's equipment inventory and checkout

  • Maintains the department equipment checkout system and inventory

  • Conducts annual inventory checks

  • Trains student workers in order fulfillment and equipment maintenance

  • Develops purchasing plans in collaboration with chair and faculty

    5. Supports student class projects/films

  • Maintains the department IMDb, Backstage, and Withoutabox accounts

  • Assists students with off-campus film permitting, and on-campus space booking

  • Assists students with film festival submission

  • Supports Senior Projects with technical advice

    6. Provides recruitment/promotion support for department

  • Provides facility tours to prospective students

  • Demonstrates gear and student work at campus recruitment events

  • Hosts open houses and workshops for non-COMM majors

  • Maintains department Instagram and MediaHub YouTube channel

    7. Content Creation

  • Creates episodes of the Spotlight podcast

  • Creates schedule of digital skills workshops for the Vanguard community

  • Produces and crowd-sources tutorials and features for the Content Library

  • Develops vision for MediaHub services in collaboration with the Department chair

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Master's degree in Communication or related field; Highly qualified candidates with a B.A. will be considered
  • Comprehensive knowledge of HD film cameras, RED cameras and Digital SLR cameras
  • Comprehensive knowledge of film production equipment and processes
  • Comprehensive knowledge of industry-standard software (Adobe CC, AVID, Protools)
  • Experience with a variety of digital content including graphic design, social media, live streaming and webinars
  • Working knowledge of Mac OS computer operation
  • Working knowledge of audio recording technology
  • Proven track record of mentoring and training
  • Desire to work with college-age students

    PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
  • Enthusiastic personality
  • Love of visual art forms
  • Professional experience in the film/tv industry
  • Proven ability to work with diverse populations
  • Teaching or curriculum development experience
  • Familiarity with Canvas LMS

    SALARY:
    Full-time position. Salary is commensurate with education and experience and includes a generous benefits package.
