Johns Hopkins School of Medicine is seeking aSenior Clinical Nurse who participates in the day to day clinical and operational activities of the LiveWell Center at the Latham and Watkins onsite clinic in New York, NY. The position reports directly to onsite Nurse Practitioner. The position also works closely with the Clinical Coordinator for the JHU/L&W partnership along with the Executive Director and Assistant Director of the Division of Occupational and Environmental Medicine.

Specific Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Provide on-site services up to forty (40) hours per week, Monday to Friday, evenings as needed.
  • Provide prompt, appropriate clinical care to all L & W employees in conformance with company policies, clinical protocols, state regulations and ethical standards. This includes injury/illness triage and treatment, vital signs, vision testing, urine collection, blood collection, first aid and life support.
  • Document all clinical care provided in a legible, professional, thorough and timely manner.
  • Triage and treat, as appropriate, minor work related and non-work related injuries and illnesses.
  • Dispense over the counter medication in accordance with pre-established standing orders to employees with minor work-related and non-work related concerns (back pain, headache, pharyngitis).
  • Respond to medical emergencies as they occur in the facility.
  • Provide support and case management for work-related conditions for the purposes of reducing illness and absenteeism.
  • Coordinate annual seasonal influenza vaccination program. Coordinate and plan monthly health education seminars and general wellness events. Provide on site patient education regarding illnesses, medication, treatments, etc…
  • Assist in the coordination of second opinions for employees absent due to workers compensation or disability, as necessary in adherence with company protocols.
  • Assist in providing referrals for L & W employees who need the attention of a primary care physician or specialist.
  • Provide on site specimen/lab collection for employees presenting lab orders from their PCP.
  • Provide appropriate follow up communication with L & W supervisors/management and JH provider.
  • Provide general medical advice to the L & W Human Resources and Benefits Teams.
  • Ensure timely and appropriate problem resolution and follow-up to L & W patients as required.
  • Ensure the LiveWell facility is neat, clean and attractive.
  • Conduct self in an exemplary fashion to achieve goals.
  • Coordinate annual seasonal influenza vaccination program. Ensure the provision of prompt, appropriate clinical care to all patients in accordance with L&W and Johns Hopkins University protocols, State regulations and professional standards. Ensure timely and appropriate problem resolution and follow-up to L&W employees as required.

Minimum Qualifications (Mandatory):

  • Successful completion of an approved Nursing School.
  • Registered by the New York Board of Nursing as RN.
  • Minimum two (2) years related experience (adult/occupational medicine).

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Occupational Medicine, health promotion.

Special Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Analytical ability necessary to evaluate and determine health status of patient and implement proper care.
  • Interpersonal skills necessary to interview, teach and counsel patients and interact with clients/employers.
  • A comprehensive understanding of outpatient adult nursing, patient care procedures, medical protocols, testing procedures is necessary.

This may include documentation of having two (2) MMR vaccines; two (2) Varicella vaccines; or antibody status to these diseases from laboratory testing. Any vaccinations required for these diseases will be given at no cost in our Occupational Health office.
