The Data Architect/Analyst is responsible for the data needs of the Office of Financial Aid and Scholarship programs. This position works closely with others in the office to evaluate their needs and then creates, schedules, and maintains these data reports and dashboards. The position works closely with all members of the office along with the ESE IT team assigned to financial aid.
Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree and five or more years of data analytics experience are needed to perform this job successfully Job Specific Qualifications
This position requires a high-level expertise in querying tools such as Tableau, Hyperion Interactive Reporting, and PeopleSoft Query. It also requires an in-depth knowledge of undergraduate, graduate, law, and university college financial aid business processes and associated data at Syracuse University,. Good communication skills are required to interact with financial aid staff. Responsibilities
  • Design and create Tableau data sources to support financial aid reporting needs.
  • Utilize Tableau, PeopleSoft Query, and other relevant technology and tools to extract data from created sources and to design, develop, test, ensure data integrity, and maintain complex reports, dashboards, and data feeds that summarize, verify, and communicate information.
  • Develop a strong understanding of financial aid business requirements; working with financial aid leadership to define business, technical and process requirements. Collaborate with financial aid leadership and staff to determine frequently changing data needs.
  • Design, develop, and maintain Tableau query scheduler, adding and removing reports and data feeds based on recruitment, retention, various academic calendars, Title IV requirements, and other needs of the various areas of financial aid.
  • Serve as financial aid Tableau subject matter expert, providing guidance to Tableau report writers within the office and across campus. Develop and provide Tableau training to financial aid staff in main campus, university college, and law offices.
