Perform a variety of custodial and housekeeping duties involving the care, cleaning and stocking of supplies in College buildings, offices and residential areas, coordinate projects involving the work of Facilities Attendants, and assist in ensuring proper cleaning procedures are followed and the quality and quantity of work is within standards. This position is considered to be essential during emergency situations and the incumbent is subject to being requested to report to work.

  1. Assist in ensuring the safety, cleanliness and order of campus facilities to include coordinating projects involving the work of Facilities Attendants; clean and maintain assigned areas, as requested; and perform day-to-day activities related to training and quality assurance within the area of assigned responsibility in accordence with the implementation of the College recycling program.
  2. Develop and demonstrate a multicultural awareness and contribute to cultivating an inclusive, diverse and respectful College community. Demonstrate civil and inclusive behavior when interacting with staff, faculty, students and visitors to the College. Promote a flexible, collaborative and inclusive work and living environment and engage in educational opportunities to increase awareness and understanding of diversity and inclusion.
  3. Report items requiring service or repair via the Maintenance Direct software system; monitor conditions of buildings on assigned shifts. Provide bio-hazard clean-ups, as needed. Provide weekly reports to management regarding quality assessments of staff, facilities and supplies.
  4. Inspect assigned work areas to ensure completion of work assignments; report discrepancies to the Supervisor or Assistant Area Supervisor.
  5. Document building usage of supplies as well as requisition orders for supplies in entire academic area.
  6. Operate and maintain specialized equipment used for transportation, maintenance, lifting, refinishing; assist in the issuance, control and usage of custodial equipment and supplies; properly operate equipment.
  7. Participate in the training of new employees; attend department and College meetings and training sessions; and develop and maintain a cooperative working relationship with members of the campus community.
  8. Ensure efficient and appropriate set-up for events to include overseeing and coordinating crews for special event set-ups and teardowns; dismantling and storing chairs and equipment; reading and interpreting diagrams for special events.


High school diploma or equivalent, and a minimum of 2 years previous custodial experience; ability to use and an in-depth knowledge of, various cleaning agents, equipment and supplies; good interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills and the ability to effectively work and interact respectfully within a diverse and inclusive environment; ability to lift and carry 40 lbs., climb a 6-ft. ladder, and a valid NYS Drivers License or ability to obtain one are required. Demonstrated ability to supervise co-workers is preferred.
