SUMMARY

Under direction, serves as a practitioner for medical services on behalf of the CARES Institute, utilizing specialized knowledge, skills, and competencies as a board certified / board eligible Child Abuse Pediatrician or as a physician with significant experience and expertise in child abuse pediatrics and the care of children in foster care, providing patient management and care coordination.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

Provide outpatient examinations and evaluations at the CARES Institute facilities and inpatient assessment at affiliated hospitals serving the needs of abused and neglected children.

Participate in county-based multidisciplinary case review teams.

Participate in regional child death review team activities as needed.

Provide professional training to members of child protective services, law enforcement and the courts adhering to the guidelines outlined by the CARES Institute.

Participate with on-call after hour’s coverage Monday through Sunday. The extent of call will be dependent upon the number of child abuse pediatricians to share this responsibility.

Responsibilities will include in person court testimony, depositions, and hearings in criminal matters, family court, and administrative law.

Actively participate in the education of medical students, residents and fellows.

Ensure that services are provided in accordance with requirements of the Medicare and Medicaid Programs and third-party payers.

Ensures medical dictations and reports are completed within the mandated timeframe.

Prepares and/or compiles data for various reports.

Pursue academic endeavors that will lead, over time, to promotion.

Performs other related duties as assigned.

Understands and adheres to Rowan University compliance standards as they appear in the Corporate Compliance Policy, Code of Conduct and Conflict of Interest Policy.

Keeps abreast of all federal, state and Rowan University regulations, laws and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE

Candidates must hold a D.O. or M.D. and be either AOA or ABMS Board Certified in Pediatrics with specialty training or experience in the area of Child Abuse / Foster Care. Must be able to acquire a NJ medical license, DEA and CDS by time of hiring.
