Position Description

Blood and Marrow Transplant (BMT) and Hematology/Oncology Programs 

The Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center (Fred Hutch), the University of Washington (UW) and Seattle Children’s Hospital (SCH) are jointly recruiting a full-time faculty member at the Assistant Professor or Associate Professor level without tenure due to funding (WOT), commensurate with experience and qualifications in the Clinical Research Division of the Fred Hutch and the Division of Pediatric Hematology/Oncology and Bone Marrow Transplantation, Department of Pediatrics at the UW. This position would have an annual service period of 12 months [July 1-June 30]. Anticipated start date is Winter 2021/2022. The primary appointment will be in the Clinical Research Division of Fred Hutch. The selected individual for the advertised position is expected to contribute to our mission of delivering outstanding clinical care and developing excellence in clinical research related to the field of hematopoietic cell transplantation.  Specifically the individual in this position would be expected to have focused clinical research efforts in transplantation for non-malignant conditions, and contribute to the development of our clinical gene therapy program.  Fred Hutch and University of Washington faculty engage in teaching, research, and service.

Qualifications

The ideal candidate should have a record of and primary research interest in hematopoietic cell transplantation for non-malignant diseases and/or gene therapy as well as an active clinical research interest, as demonstrated by peer-reviewed publications, in the application of transplantation to the treatment of human disease.  

Applicants must have an MD or DO degree (or foreign equivalent) and US board certification in Pediatric Hematology/Oncology. Applicants must have completed a pediatric residency and a pediatric hematology/oncology fellowship.

In order to be eligible for University sponsorship for an H-1B visa, graduates of foreign (non-U.S.) medical schools must show successful completion of all three steps of the U.S. Medical Licensing Exam (USMLE) or equivalent as determined by the Secretary of Health and Human Services.
