Job Summary

The Department of Biology at Elmhurst University invites applications for a tenure-track assistant professor position in the area of genetics and computational biology beginning August 2022. Applicants with expertise in human genetics and bioinformatics are especially encouraged to apply and preference will be given to applicants whose research focuses on diversity and equity issues in healthcare. The successful candidate will have a Ph.D. in a biological discipline, demonstrated excellence in undergraduate teaching and mentoring, and outstanding potential as a professor in a liberal arts setting. Primary teaching responsibilities will include teaching lectures and laboratories in majors’ level core biology courses, particularly Genetics. There will also be opportunities to develop specialized upper-level undergraduate courses in the area of bioinformatics as well as the development of a new undergraduate program in the field. The candidate must also show a commitment to developing a productive research program engaging undergraduates in their area of specialty.

Responsibilities for this position includes course preparation, teaching, grading, and being available to students who have questions or require assistance; establishing a research program that actively includes undergraduate students; and service to the department and University.
