The Department of Theatre Arts at the University of Arkansas at Little Rock seeks a nine-month Visiting Instructor of Scenic and Lighting Design for a one-year appointment with the possibility of renewal. The successful candidate will join an accomplished and collegial team of theatre faculty and staff dedicated to a student-centered model of production. As the department expands production capacity and in-person performances, we seek a candidate committed to collaboration and artistic innovation. In this position, the successful candidate will oversee and implement scenic and lighting design for mainstage productions with a focus or specialization in either scenic or lighting design. The successful candidate will also support production procedures, budgetary considerations, and the maintenance and development of the spatial and material inventory.

 

Minimum Education and/ or Experience:

Master of Fine Arts in Theatrical Design with demonstrated experience in university teaching;

Candidates must have the ability to oversee scenic and lighting design with a primary emphasis in at least one area;

A demonstrated commitment to excellence in teaching, collaboration, collegiality, diversity, equity, and inclusion;

Excellent communication and organizational skills are essential.

 

Preferred Education and/ or Experience:

Evidence of professional design experience in either scenic or lighting design;
