Institutional Effectiveness, Assessment and Planning (IEAP) is dedicated to provide support to college departments and individuals by making data available, helping with assessment, and assisting with planning. We can deliver the following services:
  • Assistance with survey development.
  • Assistance with identifying needed data.
  • Presentations on CCSSE, SENSE and other regularly scheduled; surveys conducted at the College.
  • Help develop assessment plan objectives and measures.

Position Summary: The overall purpose of this job is to conduct quantitative and qualitative research and analysis of policy- and practice- relevant to college issues, including conducting designing and performing data analyses, and summarizing findings. The position is expected to plan and conduct research to inform strategic planning, student success initiatives and provide actionable data for college initiatives with little oversight. Write reports, briefs, concept papers, PowerPoint presentations, memos, and other content to disseminate research and analysis to key policy- and practice-audiences. This position would help conceptualize the framework for presentation of actionable data in a format which allows administration and others to plan for change. Propose innovative approaches to research projects on new or expanding program and policy areas. Collaborate with and assist other departments and staff as necessary.

Essential Functions:

40% Conducts institutional research in collaboration with all academic departments and non-instructional departments. Uses knowledge of quantitative research methods as applied in the social sciences, including statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, data collection, data coding, transformation, and sampling techniques to conduct statistical studies and support institutional research to inform strategic planning, student success redesign and departmental planning. Research skills include data retrieval/collection, tracking, descriptive and predictive analysis, writing complex queries in SQL Developer. Employee must also be proficient in relational databases.

30% Coordinates all external reporting to state and federal agencies including IPEDS, Voluntary Framework of Accountability, Perkins and National Center for Educational Statistics. Requires ability to interpret federal and state requirements, analyze available data sets, write queries to extract accurate data and organize time to meet non-negotiable deadlines. Performs research assignments which include data retrieval/collection, tracking, analysis, and reporting from college administrative and academic offices, w riting simple and complex queries in SQL Developer or Argos for institutional data extraction on an ongoing and ad hoc basis.

20% Provides data to decision-makers at all levels of college administration by designing, developing, and maintaining user-friendly data visualizations and summaries, including dashboards, tables, and graphs. Position must provide accurate data information which can be used to identify areas for improvement disaggregated by equity standards. Employee is responsible for training employees and administration on use of data for decision-making purposes. Uses knowledge of quantitative research methods as applied in the social sciences, including statistical analysis, hypothesis testing, data collection, data coding, transformation, and sampling techniques to conduct statistical studies and support institutional research .

5% Supports various departments through design, development, and maintenance of research databases used for operational decision making, and warehousing of permanent records of research. Collaborates with department directors to develop products which improves efficiency within the departments.

5% Collaborates with end-users and administrators to develop ad hoc reports used in daily decision making and fulfillment of departmental and external request including survey administration, curriculum development, and other needs as they are identified. Such requests frequently have quick turnaround deadlines and must be comprehensive and accurate deadlines.

Job Requirements:

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Sciences or related discipline with extensive coursework in statistics and/or educational, social, or behavioral research design and evaluation.

Two years of statistical study design, analysis and reporting and experience working with relational database design and programming, specifically SQL.

Knowledge and experience with both quantitative and qualitative research required.

Part-time work experience is calculated at 50% credit of full-time work experience

Preferred Qualifications: Master’s degree in related field with extensive work in statistics is highly preferred.

Experience with postsecondary datasets such as IPEDS, VFA, and NPSAS highly preferred.

Complexity & Creativity:

The study design and statistical analysis requires extensive knowledge of design theory and educational data collected in student information systems. The analyst must be able to demonstrate knowledge of relational database management theory, design and operation as pertaining to student and academic data . Proficiency in use of SQL with emphasis on retrieval of student information from Banner/Oracle application . Proficient use of statistical software and knowledge of advanced s t atistical methods and techniques . Beyond proficiency, the employee must be able to communicate with other employees with varying degrees of understanding of research application in order to produce information which can be used to take action toward improvement of daily operations, student success and ultimately college success. Emerging use of visualization tools requires creativity while maintaining the integrity of the data being communicated.

Pay Rate: $49,090 - $61,020/per year. Pay will be determined based on related work experience above required. To be considered in determining pay, all related work experience must be listed on the application.
