Reporting to the Director, the Coordinator of Program Assessment participates in activities that promote the stature of the PAI and University in accordance with the mandates set by ARC-PA, the program’s Director, Dean and Office of the Provost.

The College of Health Sciences is an integrated body formed in August 2018 by uniting the School of Nursing, School of Chiropractic, School of Naturopathic Medicine, Physician Assistant Institute, Acupuncture Institute, Fones School of Dental Hygiene, School of Health Professions, and the Nutrition Institute.

The Coordinator of Program Assessment is an administrative faculty appointment with duties to be performed on a twelve-month/year-round basis. The Coordinator of Program Assessment requires a five-day per week effort. For clinically practicing providers, four days within the Physician Assistant Institute and the fifth for clinical practice or professional advancement and contribution will be considered.

PRIMARY DUTIES and RESPONSIBILITIES

Essential Functions:
  • Develop, review and revise as necessary academic materials, mission and curriculum requirements.
  • Assist with implementation and execution of continuous ongoing programmatic assessment.
  • Collect and analyze data to facilitate data-driven changes and continuous program self-assessment.
  • Compile and present reports on various datapoints collected throughout the assessment process.
  • Provide student instruction.
  • Monitor student progress and evaluate student performance.
  • Serve as chair of the Academic Assessment Committee and participate in faculty committees as needed.
  • Ensure testing instruments reflect course and learning outcomes including measurement of validity and reliability. Report on assessment data.
  • Serve on the CHS Simulation Committee and direct the standardized patient program. Develop and participate in educational simulation experiences throughout the curriculum.
  • Assure that programmatic institutional effectiveness and student learning outcomes assessment is conducted and that the results of the assessment lead to meaningful instructional development.
  • Foster student achievement, persistence and success through faculty advisement.
  • Coordinate and execute of the End-of-Didactic Examinations and the Final Summative OSCE.
  • Participate in admissions and curriculum committee.
  • Participate in the duties necessary for program maintenance of accreditation.
  • Participate in PA related professional development, activities and associations.
  • Other responsibilities as determined by the Director.
Qualifications

Qualifications:
  • Master’s Degree required, Doctoral degree preferred.
  • PA, allopathic or osteopathic physician with current licensure and certification preferred. (Must have current or be eligible for CT licensure)
  • 3 years administrative and/or teaching experience in a university setting preferred.
  • 3-5 years of experience in higher education and program assessment preferred.
  • Certification, training or previous experience with Simulation education preferred.
  • Understanding and experience with ARC-PA Standards preferred.
Skills:
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills.
  • Strong interpersonal skills with staff and students.
  • Superior organization, prioritization, and self-motivation.
  • Detail-oriented.
  • Advanced proficiency in MS Office, specifically skills with Excel and data analysis required.
  • Knowledge and previous experience with Examsoft testing software preferred.
Abilities:
  • Ability to interact effectively as a member of the PAI team and work collaboratively with other College of Health Sciences programs.
  • Ability to listen to constituents (e.g. staff, etc.) and to understand and respond positively to their requests.
  • Ability to adapt to changing assignments and multiple priorities.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks and successfully meet deadlines.
