Job Details

The Assistant Professor is a 9-month tenure-track position in the School of Education at Fairleigh Dickinson University.  The successful candidate will be primarily responsible for teaching graduate courses in the Masters for Certified Teachers (MACT) Literacy/Reading Specialist program, and literacy classes in the MAT program. This program is located on both the Metropolitan Campus in Teaneck, NJ and the Florham Campus in Madison, NJ and at various off-site locations in New Jersey. Many of the classes are taught remotely and require experience in teaching on-line.   A strong background in literacy development is required.

Responsibilities:

  1. Teach classes in the Literacy/Reading Specialist program and the QUEST/Master of Arts for Teaching program.
  2. Advise and mentor candidates in the Literacy/Reading Specialist program. 
  3. Review applications of teachers applying for the MACT Literacy/Reading Specialist and the Dual Literacy/Mulitsensory program.
  4. Contribute to the national visibility and impact of School of Education by conducting research, publishing in peer-reviewed journals, and presenting at state, national and international conferences.
  5. Develop ongoing relationships with school districts regarding their literacy program.
  6. Collaborate with faculty and program directors involved in the Master of Arts for Certified Teacher program.
  7. Teach remotely and use Blackboard as an on-line platform to post material.
