The Non-Destructive Testing ( NDT ) Instructional Specialist assists with setting up and instruction for all NDT classes and labs. The Specialist applies industry experience, relevant knowledge, skill, and testing procedures specific to Radiographic Testing (RT) in the classroom and labs. Required Qualifications:
Education and Experience: Position requires an AA/AS degree in an NDT or related field and a minimum of five years of industry experience, or a minimum of ten years’ experience as an industrial radiographer, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Knowledge and Skills: Familiarity with NDT inspection processes, facilities, and related equipment Industry experience in RT. Ability to create, set-up, and facilitate testing procedures to a standard and/or specification. Current Radiation Safety Credentials. Requires professional level office skills such as word processing, Excel, technical reading, following directions, and self-direction. Must have Weld print knowledge & interpretation, mechanical aptitude, and a general understanding of equipment and mechanical systems. Requires the willingness and desire to develop as an NDT professional in all disciplines taught at LBCC, which include MT, PT, VT, UT, PAUT, RT, DR, CR.

Abilities: Requires the ability to perform the duties of the position efficiently and effectively with minimal supervision. Requires the ability to learn, understand and apply the college rules, regulations and policies. Requires the ability to operate standard office machines and equipment including computers. Must be able to prioritize and plan work in order to meet deadlines and a fast-paced environment. Must be able to work respectfully with individuals from all cultures, backgrounds, and perspectives. Requires the ability to communicate with staff and students effectively.

Licenses & Certificates: Requires SNT -TC1A Level II Radiography Preferred Qualifications: Physical Requirements and Working Conditions:
Requires the ability to operate NDT equipment. Must have physical ability to stand for extended periods while operating or monitoring equipment. Requires visual acuity to read words.

Work is predominately indoors in college NDT testing lab, with potential exposure to safety or health hazards. Essential Duties:
Creates, sets-up, and instructs RT labs including, but not limited to, Dark Room protocols, organization, film processor use/maintenance, film I.D., selection, organization, and cassette loading.

Develops techniques for a variety of cast parts for film RT.

Develops techniques for a variety of cast parts for Digital Radiography (DR).

Develops techniques for a variety of cast parts for Computed Radiography (CR)

Develops techniques and procedures for film, CR, and DR image flaw detection/interpretation. Applicant Instructions:
