Lecturer of Marketing

The Department of Management, Marketing, and Logistics offers academic programs of study including management and marketing with concentrations in logistics, human resource management, and sales. The Department also offers a nationally ranked graduate program in Logistics and Supply Chain Management and our faculty contribute to the highly successful Georgia WebMBA® program.  The Department serves over 450 marketing majors, as well as teaching the Principles course to all BBA students, and covers a minor in marketing for non-business majors.

The J. Whitney Bunting College of Business at Georgia College & State University, with programs of study accredited by AACSB and ABET, invites applications for the position of Lecturer of Marketing beginning August 2022. Candidates with disciplinary background(s) and/or professional experience in Marketing or related fields are encouraged to apply. The faculty member, in this 10-month tenure-track position, will teach courses primarily in marketing principles and other core courses and electives as needed, including sales, sports marketing, marketing research, and consumer behavior. 

Responsibilities

Faculty - Teaching/Instructing - 85%

Teaching Responsibilities: Advertising, Sales, Retailing, Social Media, Sports Marketing, along with Principles of Marketing and other core and elective courses as needed.

Conduct regular course meetings and instruction.

Other teaching responsibilities as assigned.

Faculty at Georgia College share the responsibility of teaching our university core curriculum by teaching topical freshman (GC1Y) or sophomore (GC2Y) seminar courses. Faculty also are expected to develop and demonstrate knowledge of current philosophies, practices, and theories related to the academic discipline.

Faculty - Professional Development - 5%

Current work in circulation or in progress, whether academic, practitioner, or popular press;
Grants received or applied for;
Membership and participation in professional organizations;
Other professional service or development activities.

Faculty - Service to Institution - 10

Committee memberships and offices;
Programs directed and advised;
Participation in special programs or projects;
Other service to the department, college and university.

Required Qualifications

Educational Requirements

Masters Degree and 18 graduate credit hours within the teaching discipline are required that meet SCACSCOC accreditation requirements stated in C.S. 3.7.1 (www.sacscoc.org (faculty credentials)

Other Required Qualifications

Demonstrable understanding of Georgia College's mission and enthusiasm for working closely with and mentoring high-achieving students within an academic community dedicated to the advancement of knowledge through learning and scholarship.
Strong communication skills.
Ability to work collegially with others in service to the University.

Preferred Educational Qualifications

Terminal degree in Marketing or related fields.

Preferred Experience

Successful higher education teaching experience at the undergraduate level within the candidate's area of specialization including strategic marketing, sales, sports marketing, and other core marketing courses; experience teaching at the graduate level would be considered.
