Position Summary

Evaluates and awards student financial aid according to federal, state, and institutional policy and procedure. Advises and assists students and families with the financial aid process.


Essential Functions (other non-essential duties may be assigned)

  1. Maintain a strong knowledge and understanding and advise students and families on all aspects of the Federal, State and institutional financial aid application processes; satisfactory academic progress necessary to maintain eligibility to receive financial aid, and financial considerations of enrollment and retention.
  2. Provide financial aid advising and counseling to students and parents through appointments, walk-in, phone, and email.
  3. Monitor, approve, and revise all financial aid packaging for all qualified applicants in accordance with federal, state, institutional, and other regulations, policies and procedures.
  4. Coordinate Federal Return of Title IV funds process.
  5. Coordinate Pell Grant processing.
  6. Complete verification on selected applications.
  7. Support admissions activities as they relate to student aid, including, but not limited to meeting with students and families at Admission events on campus and making presentations at high school nights, open houses, admissions programs, orientation, etc.
  8. Serve on teams and committees as needed to fulfill the goals of the College.
  9. Stay current on Federal and State financial aid regulations by through reading financial aid publications, attending conferences and workshops and accessing available resources.

 Required Qualifications

  • Ability to communicate complex programs and processes to a diverse constituency
  • Ability to deal with people using patience and courtesy
  • Knowledge of MS Office as well as accuracy in data entry
  • Knowledge of Banner or other FAMS
  • Knowledge of Federal and State financial Aid regulations
  • Ability to complete assignments accurately and with close attention to detail
  • Ability to manage confidential personal and financial information

Physical Requirements/Working Conditions

  • Frequently required to communicate with others via email, video conferencing, chat applications, and/or telephone.
  • Frequently operates a computer and other office productivity equipment including calculator, copy machine, and filing systems
  • Occasional after-hours work (evenings, weekends) during peak times.

Education and Experience
Bachelor’s degree, at least two (2) years of financial aid experience
