The Emporia State University Alumni Association in Emporia, Kansas is in a search for an Alumni Programs Coordinator. The salary range is $33,500 to $44,500 commensurate with qualifications. RESPONSIBILITIES:

The Alumni Programs Coordinator designs and supports all alumni activities and programs of the Alumni Association. The coordinator reports directly to the Director of Alumni Relations and works closely with the Emporia State University Foundation to execute strategic communications, events, volunteer opportunities and fundraising programs designed to inspire and nurture relationships between alumni and the institution. The coordinator also serves as the lead advisor for the Emporia State University Student Ambassadors organization. Specific duties for this position include:

  • Coordinate and facilitate logistics of the Alumni Association and alumni chapter programs, events and meetings.
  • Manage the alumni event process, including but not limited to: event scheduling; preparing and developing invitations; making arrangements with vendors; assembling the appropriate materials, information and equipment necessary for the function; tracking and securing advance reservations and attendance; ensuring proper post-event protocol; and ensuring alignment to organizational goals and strategic initiatives.
  • Coordinate the ESU booth at the Kansas State Fair, including the development of a marketing plan, recruiting and training volunteers and staff, and preparing and gathering appropriate materials and promotional items for the booth.
  • Coordinate Homecoming events and activities.
  • Serve as the principal staff liaison to the NE Kansas Alumni Chapter, South Central Kansas Alumni Chapter, and the Kansas City Alumni Golf Committee.
  • Serve as the lead advisor for the ESU Ambassadors.
  • Facilitate and coordinate Ambassador meetings, events, activities, conferences, and programs including but not limited to Senior Week and Homecoming.
  • Facilitate volunteer outreach for identified and assigned programs.
  • Provide alumni relations and development officers with background information on prospective guests for coordinated events.
  • Research and suggest alumni program initiatives that align to the mission and strategic plan of the alumni association.
  • Other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum qualifications include a bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution or a minimum of 3 years volunteer management and leadership experience. Experience within event planning and/or higher education is preferred.

Ideally, the candidate for the Alumni Programs Coordinator role will show initiative and leadership, have excellent oral and written communication style, and be organized. This candidate should be able to manage multiple deadline-driven projects, be adaptable, and have the ability to establish and maintain standards of quality.
