Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal Biology

 

Kennesaw State University is now accepting applications for a nine-month, tenure track Assistant Professor or Associate Professor of Disease Ecology faculty position in the Department of Ecology, Evolution, and Organismal Biology, beginning August 1, 2022. Rank is determined at the time of hiring and will be commensurate with experience.

 

Successful candidates will be expected to establish an inclusive and extramurally funded research program that addresses important questions in the field of disease ecology, or a related field. The capability of including both undergraduate and graduate student researchers from diverse backgrounds is also expected.

 

Candidates working in a disease system relevant to the Southern US and Georgia as well as candidates who can develop a collaborative, inclusive, and innovative research program that complements the Department’s current expertise are particularly encouraged to apply.

Teaching at both the undergraduate and graduate level is expected with an emphasis on active, inclusive, and experiential learning.

 

Participation in professional service and support for inclusive excellence within the Department, the College of Science and Mathematics, the University and beyond is expected.

 

Required Qualifications Include:

  • An earned doctorate (or its foreign equivalent) in biology or a closely related discipline
  • Post-doctoral experience
  • A record of peer-reviewed publications (or accepted manuscripts)
  • A research proposal deemed likely to attract extramural funding. An applicant at the Associate Professor level must have a record of successfully securing extramural

 

Preferred Qualifications Include:

  • Success in obtaining extramural funding
  • A record of using evidence-based, inclusive teaching practices at the university level
  • Recruiting and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students from diverse backgrounds
  • Service that engages a diverse community and works to build an inclusive institution
