The Department of Music seeks a part-time faculty member to teach applied flute lessons beginning in Spring 2022. There may be additional opportunities to teach courses in Music Appreciation, Global Music, Jazz Appreciation, Rhythm and Rock, and Intro to Hip-Hop depending on the department’s needs and the candidate’s expertise. Excellence in teaching and learning conducted within a rigorous and stimulating environment is an important core value of the University of North Carolina at Pembroke. The Music Department has a strong commitment to undergraduate teaching and part-time faculty are expected to maintain department and university standards. The successful candidate must hold a master’s degree in Music and demonstrate significant professional experience.

The Music Department is accredited by the National Association of Schools of Music (NASM). It has a strong record of teaching, publication, and service, and additional information about the university (uncp.edu) and department (uncp.edu/music) are available online. Minimum Training and Experience Requirements: The successful candidate must hold a master’s degree in Music and demonstrate significant professional experience.
Desired Qualifications: MM or DMA in Flute Performance or equivalent professional experience. Prior university experience teaching. Experience using the Canvas learning management system (or similar). Special Instructions to Applicants: Please attach the following: Cover Letter, Curriculum Vitae, and Reference List. Review of applications will begin on November 15, 2021, and will continue until the position is filled. The position begins on January 10, 2022.
This position is subject to the successful completion of an employment background check. An employment background check includes a criminal background check, employment verification, reference checks, license verification (if applicable), and credit history check (if applicable).
