PATHOLOGY - FACULTY OPPORTUNITIES

at The University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB)

The Department of Pathology at the University of Texas Medical Branch (UTMB), Galveston, is seeking to recruit 2-3 tenure-track faculty at an academic rank of Assistant or Associate Professor with an MD, PhD, DVM or equivalent degree.

 

The University of Texas Medical Branch: UTMB has many highly interactive research centers, biomedical institutes, and a national biocontainment laboratory with excellent infrastructure to conduct research in BSL-2, -3 and -4 on diverse animal models of infectious diseases, including arthropod containment levels 1-4 (ACL4 for tick research only) and extensive insectaries. The Department, with 54 full-time clinical and research faculty, is ranked among the top 25 of its peer departments in NIH funding.

 

The preferred areas of related to emerging and vector borne infectious diseases include: (i) vector-pathogen-host interactions; (ii) Pathogenesis of intracellular pathogen infection; (iii) mechanisms of immunity and immunopathogenesis; and (iv) endothelial and vascular biology of infection.

 

The search welcomes applicants with strong records of research accomplishment that may complement and/or expand the research interests of the Department. The Department is particularly interested in attracting candidates who will further and foster commitment to equity, inclusion and belonging.

 

The successful candidate(s) should be highly productive with an established record of extramural funding or the potential to establish and spearhead innovative basic and applied research programs in one or more of the above areas. The successful applicants should be amenable to collaborative studies with other investigators studying the pathogenesis, immunology, ecology and epidemiology of infectious diseases, including vector-borne infectious diseases in the department and be committed to graduate education by teaching and mentoring graduate and medical students.
