Summary

The Technical Support Coordinator extends technical support to all faculty, staff and students of W&J College. This position requires superior knowledge of Windows and macOS. An advanced skillset is essential to handle computer repairs, software installations, configurations, upgrades, systems security, malware detection and systems problem troubleshooting and resolution. The Technical Support Coordinator position will install, maintain, and configure laptops and desktops, local/network printers and multifunction devices. This is a front-line position which provides support of incoming requests to the Help Desk via telephone, web portal and email. This position must accurately and timely track incidents and calls through a helpdesk ticketing system.

Duties and Responsibilities
  • Perform regular hardware and software maintenance to keep systems running optimally and in accordance with College software standards.
  • Diagnose, troubleshoot and provide solutions for desktop, network and enterprise technical issues.
  • Deploy various types of hardware and software, including but not limited to desktops, laptops, and printers.
  • Track assets as they are received and deployed.
  • Provide onsite and remote support for desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, hardware repairs, software installations, or other fixes as determined.
  • Document and manage incoming email, web portal tickets and phone issues in the ticketing system.
  • Must utilize project management skills to ensure all tickets are responded to within the appropriate time period, keeping detailed notes about the problem and resolution and proactively escalating as necessary.
  • Provide A/V support, to include video and web conferencing, for classrooms and meeting rooms.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in an IT or related field or comparable knowledge with work-related experience with advanced certifications in some or all of the following: CompTIA A+, Network+, CCNE, CCNA, and MCSE.
  • Minimum of two years of IT experience required. Familiarity in academic environments a plus.
  • Practical experience in systems security, user security at the client level, and installing third party software products.
  • Excellent project management, organizational, verbal and written communication skills required.
Physical job requirements
  • Must be able to transport moderately heavy objects, such as computers, monitors, devices, etc.
  • Must be able to independently lift to 50 pounds.
  • Bending, kneeling, carrying, lifting, pushing, pulling, reaching, sitting, standing, walking required for this position.
