Department Information

The University makes available a broad array of credit and non-credit courses, seminars and workshops through the Division of Extended Studies. Some programs are offered on campus and off-campus sites and some are offered through distance modalities including online and correspondence programs.
 
 A primary aim of the Division of Extended Studies is to provide courses to part-time students.  A variety of educational methods—classroom instruction, correspondence courses, on-line courses, conferences, workshops and seminars—are utilized to expand educational access and meet the needs of students at convenient times and settings. Students may earn academic credit toward a degree, study for career advancement, or pursue cultural and avocational interests.

Description of Job

 

As part of the mission of the CSU Pueblo mission, this position will be focused directly on the needs and program growth of the rural communities in Colorado, specifically focusing energies and efforts in the southern Colorado region. This position will assist in outreach and program growth on the front range, especially related to CSU System or CSU FC Extension collaborations.    This position will be doing outreach for a variety of access options: in-person, online, hybrid, short course and other avenues for enrollment that meet the needs of these rural areas, including building educational opportunities that support workforce development. This position will serve as the primary contact for collaborations that involve community college partnerships, and building alliances and dual enrollment opportunities in these rural areas. This position will provide the Dean of Extended Studies opportunities for growth and coordinate possible efforts across county lines that lead to enrollment, and support the needs of rural communities.
 
 The position holder does not have to reside in Pueblo County, but must make efforts to connect to the different campuses (main and satellite), as well as travel across the state of Colorado as necessary to build and enhance education and workforce partnerships.


Primary Duties

  • High School Partnership Support – Build partnerships with rural community high schools, and high school activities (4-H, FBLA, FFA), assist in providing support for dual enrollment opportunities through the high school programs operation in Extended Studies. Provide direct support to high school students needing admissions and enrollment concerns. Provide admission and advising support to students.
  • Outreach and Marketing—Recommend and participate in educational fairs, professional associations and community outreach activities designed to generate enrollment growth for assigned programs. Coordinate where appropriate with CSU System and CSU FC Extension Offices for programming and partnerships that build horizontal and vertical integrations for higher education.
  • Rural Community Workforce Development— Identify and locate space for degree offerings that support workforce development needs in a rural community. Develop partners, and identify support structures for third party billing and streamlined enrollment processes. The position holder should be knowledgeable of multiple modalities for degree completion, and evaluate the optimal formula for degree completion, including in-person (place-based education), online, synchronous zoom with multiple locations or independent study. Use problem solving as key strategy for building growth partnerships.
  • Rural Community College Collaboration and Coordination – Identify areas for 4-year completion needs and assist in the development and coordination efforts associated with 4-year collaborations. Knowledgeable about the state-wide articulation agreements and able to solve problems and coordinate with faculty partners on both sides to design potential education partnerships.
  • Education Partnership Support and Maintenance - Support new and ongoing state, federal and industry focused partnerships to build (DOC, YOS, PEDCO, Dept. of Agriculture, SBDC) education opportunities, either through certificates, non-credit and/or certificate and/or degree-seeking opportunities.
  • Division and University Affairs - Participates in Division and University affairs remotely (when possible) and throughout the region of residence that enhance the assigned programs’ performance and quality profile. Ensures that the advising process and marketing materials conform to relevant university and state policies, procedures and accreditation practices. Works collaboratively and effectively with department chairs and admissions, records and financial aid staff to assist students with academic processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree from a regionally accredited college or university
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs and enterprise information systems
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally and in writing

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree from a regionally accredited institution
  • Knowledge of regional accreditation and higher education regulatory processes
  • Knowledge and professional experience in a rural community
  • Knowledge of college admissions, advising, enrollment, and financial aid procedures
  • Experience in adult and traditional education programs
  • Professional experience in designing and supporting collaborative partnerships

This is a grant funded position, renewable annually, based on budgetary approvals and renewal of Vision Program grant funding.
