Job Description

The Perinatal Research Program in the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology at the UMKC School of Medicine is seeking a Scientific Writer (on-site or remote) to provide guidance and support for developing, writing and submitting research grant proposals and manuscripts in the areas perinatal research, implantation and placentation , neurodevelopment, immunobiology of the maternal-fetal interface, and the vascular complications associated with various pregnancy disorders. Qualified applicants will have the opportunity to share in authorship of publications.

The duties will include, but are not limited to:
  • conduct search for scholarly literature relevant to the research project;
  • analyze and interpret research results and the published literature in the field, and writing and editing research grant proposals, manuscripts for original research and review articles, grant reports, letters of recommendation and fellowship applications;
  • preparation of abstracts, PowerPoint slides and posters for presentation in scientific meetings;
  • assist the PI in coordination and development of collaborative research projects with other investigators;
  • development of scientific research projects as needed, and performing other duties as assigned.
Preference will be given to applicants willing to work on site. This position can be filled at the level of a Research Assistant or a Senior Research Assistant, depending on educational qualifications and experience. A highly competitive salary will be offered.

Minimum Qualifications

All applicants must have a Bachelor’s or equivalent degree.

A Master’s Degree and successful track record of scientific editing/writing will be considered for appointment at the level of a Senior Research Assistant.

Full Time/Part Time

Full time [100% FTE], benefit-eligible, 12-month unranked academic appointment.
