The John H. Pace, Jr. '39 Center for Civic Engagement aims to amplify Princeton students' impact in the world. As articulated in its 2020-2025 Strategic Plan, the Pace Center's work is guided by a set of partnership principles as well as a student learning framework that centers equity, empathy, and empowerment. The Pace Center now offers over 250 summer internships and provides additional robust programming throughout the summer and academic year.

Reporting to the Associate Director of the Center/Director of Service Focus, the Assistant Director will work alongside the Director to support the Pace Center's growing programming related to summer internships and experiential learning. Deepening students' learning through reflection, as well as supporting students in making connections between their service experiences and their academic and professional endeavors will be significant to the internship programming that the Assistant Director will support. The Assistant Director will have a leading role in developing community partnerships, and in developing and evaluating programming that can prepare and guide a diverse group of students through their service internships. The Assistant Director encourages, supports and invites diverse perspectives in a commitment to the Center's vision to have Princeton University students make the world more equitable by respecting differences and creating access and opportunity for all people and communities to thrive. This position will supervise a Program Coordinator as well as student associates.

Student development and learning (65%) - The Assistant Director (AD) will design, manage, and support several key areas for student development and learning within the internships team. The AD will support students in small group reflection across Pace Center programs. They will serve as the staff mentor/facilitator for 2 Service Focus cohorts (facilitating group discussions, reflective exercises, and community-building activities), and will serve as the staff advisor for Service Focus peer leaders. The AD will have strategic planning and budgetary oversight of Service Focus cohorts and peer leader activities. They will design and coordinate cohort-based experiences for students during their summer internships and advise students searching for service internships. The AD will have primary responsibility, including advising and budgetary, for the Bogle Fellows and the Davis Projects for Peace programs. They will coordinate and lead preparatory activities for all Pace internship programs, including an Orientation event in the spring. The AD will coordinate and lead educational offerings for students during Princeton's January Wintersession, such as project grants for students to work with community partners. The AD will lead evaluations of service internships.

Partner development and collaboration (25%) - The Assistant Director (AD) will work closely with campus and community partners to support the development of service internships. The AD will help to connect community needs, student interests, and faculty interests and develop programmatic resources and practices that will enhance and diversify pathways of service at Princeton. The AD will liaise with partners to encourage and support summer programming that augments students' internship experiences, particularly place-based education that can help students to better understand the history, culture, and socioeconomic systems of their internship locale. Internships included in the program will represent diverse constituencies as well as a variety of sectors, social issues and geographic locations to ensure inclusivity of students' academic, personal and professional interests. The AD will support the Director in managing the budget for internships and in stewardship of internship funds.

Staff supervision (10%) - The Assistant Director (AD) will supervise the Service Focus program coordinator and student associates hired during the academic year and summer.
