The Department of Languages, Literatures, and Linguistics at Syracuse University is seeking Part-Time Instructor(s) to teach Arabic II – ARB 102, 4-credit section(s) and Arabic VI – ARB 302, 3-credit section(s) in the Spring 2022 semester, which begins January 18, 2022 (appointment begins on January 11, 2022). Offer is contingent upon sufficient enrollment.

COURSE DESCRIPTIONS :
Arabic II – ARB 102
Continuing proficiency-based course which develops communicative abilities in speaking, listening, reading, and writing in culturally authentic contexts. Activities are conducted in French.

Arabic V – ARB 302I
Continued proficiency-based Arabic language course which focuses on more advanced levels of proficiency in reading, speaking, writing, and listening.

Qualifications
Master’s Degree required; native or near-native fluency required. Experience in university-level teaching preferred.

It is understood that teaching assignment may include:
  • Developing and/or updating a class syllabus.
  • Ordering the appropriate books and materials in advance of the class start date.
  • Preparation of lectures, projects or other student assignments.
  • Maintaining regularly scheduled office hours.
  • Presenting instruction based on the competencies and performance levels of the course.
  • Meeting all designated class periods.
  • Submitting completed mid-semester progress reports and final grades according to University regulations.
  • Grading student assignments and exams in timely manner.
  • Providing departmentally sanctioned forms for completed student evaluations.
  • Building a positive rapport with students and other faculty.
