The Department of Communication and Digital Media seeks applications for a 3-year renewable contract appointment in graphic design, beginning Fall 2022. We are seeking an energetic candidate to work in a highly collaborative environment with a small but driven department to continue our solid track record of student success. Required qualifications: master’s degree from an accredited college or university in graphic design or related field (terminal degree of MFA preferred,), along with demonstrated professional work in the field of graphic design and/or web design. Significant full-time professional experience at an agency or as an in-house designer, art director, or creative director is preferred. The candidate must have evidence of commitment to teaching and scholarship at a college level in the realm of graphic design and/or web design. Responsibilities will include teaching courses with a focus on graphic design, including some web design, and other courses based on the needs of the department and the faculty member’s expertise. A background in animation and new media/video is encouraged, but not required. In addition to teaching, faculty members are expected to take an active role in the recruitment and retention of students, overseeing student design lab workers and supplies, along with portfolio reviews and advising. Interested candidates should apply with the following items: cover letter, statement of teaching philosophy, curriculum vitae, and a list of three references with full contact information.
All application materials (cover letter, teaching philosophy, CV, and list of three references) must be uploaded in a single PDF document through the Carthage website Applicant Pro platform.
