Purpose of Position
Northern Kentucky University invites applications for a full-time tenure-track assistant professor faculty position in Information Systems for the Business Informatics Department. The position is for faculty with research record and teaching potential in Information Systems, with preferences for faculty with expertise that span other areas such as Information Systems Management, Database Management, and Digital Transformation. This position begins in August, 2022.
Located seven miles from downtown Cincinnati in an area offering outstanding quality of life, Northern Kentucky University is a nationally-recognized metropolitan public university enrolling over 14,000 students and actively engages with its region of nearly two million people. The university offers 79 undergraduate degree programs and master’s degrees in 22 disciplines, along with JD, DNP, and EdD doctoral degrees. The university’s strategic framework lays out NKU’s mission of being a “Student-Ready University” supported by the three pillars of Access, Completion, and Career & Community Engagement. All faculty, staff and administrators have this as their ultimate focus.

The College of Informatics is one of seven colleges in the university. It enrolls over 1,800 students in 14 bachelor’s programs and three master’s programs. It was formed in 2005 to unite faculty and students from all the information-centric disciplines. It is comprised of three academic departments: Business Informatics, Computer Science, and Communication and two centers Informatics+ and Center for Information Security. The College of Informatics is located in Griffin Hall, a landmark building filled with beautiful and innovative learning spaces.

The Business Informatics department shares AACSB accreditation with the NKU Haile US Bank College of Business. It offers BS degrees and undergraduate minors in Business Information Systems and in Health Informatics, and offers Masters of Business Informatics and Masters of Health Informatics degrees, as well as graduate certificates in these areas. The department collaborates with the College of Health and Human Services to enhance and integrate its Health Informatics programs. In addition, the department operates as the academic home for the Library Informatics program. The department also provides extensive service courses for the universities BSBA and MBA programs. It currently has 14 full-time faculty. Primary Responsibilities
Will teach undergraduate and/or graduate classes and conduct research in Information Systems. Will also participate in university service and industry engagement activities as applicable. Qualifications
Applicants must have a PhD or DBA (by the time the position starts here) in Information Systems or a closely related field from an AACSB accredited program
