About the Position

This role manages the Vietnamese Portland: History, Memory, Community archive project. This means managing student workers, making sure tasks are completed on time, scheduling, conducting, and transcribing oral histories, attending team meetings, keeping the Head of Special Collections apprised of progress, and innovating new ways to grow and develop the archive. It may also mean collecting and processing physical and digital donations and managing both release forms and deeds of gift. It may require designing outreach material and seeking opportunities to engage with the Vietnamese community of Portland. This may at times require attendance of events on the weekend.

Must Haves
  • Bachelor's Degree in History or related field

  • Experience working with community organizations

  • Strong interpersonal skills and digital etiquette

Nice to Haves
  • 2 years experience working with community organizations

  • Experience producing oral histories

  • Experience working in libraries or archives

Physical Requirements
  • Moderate amount of lifting of light weight (up to 15 lbs.) to medium weight (15 to 35 lbs.), climbing or working in physically tiring work

  • Pushing/pulling, repetitive hand movements (e.g., typing), seeing, talking, hearing

Work Schedule
  • Hours/Days per week: 20 hours per week for 12 months (0.53 FTE)

Pay Rate
  • $21.13 per hour
