General Chemistry I Lab (Chem 009) accompanies Chemistry 008
lecture. The lab develops introductory chemistry lab skills, safety
practices, and qualitative and quantitative laboratory skills,
including laboratory techniques (e.g. use of pipets, burets,
balances), practice in the treatment of experimental data,
representation of precision and accuracy, graphical analysis of
experimental data, and scientific inquiry through hypothesis-driven
This lab meets in person, on campus on Tuesday from 9:15 -
1:15 am during the 2022 Spring
In addition to teaching, the instructor is expected to hold regular
virtual office hours (a minimum of one hour per week) in order to
provide students with support outside of the classroom.
Candidates must have an M.S. or Ph.D. in a relevant area of
chemistry, a successful record of teaching experience in chemistry
at the undergraduate level, and familiarity with online/hybrid
instruction in order to prepare for contingencies.
