Director of Financial Aid & Scholarships
Position Description
The Director of Financial Aid & Scholarships is responsible for the leadership and comprehensive administration and operation of student financial aid and scholarship programs at Stark State College ensuring compliance with all federal and state regulations while maximizing resources for students.
This position includes oversight for the College's Financial Aid Office staff to ensure the appropriate implementation of all Title IV federal student aid programs, state aid programs, grant funded opportunities including scholarships and all other avenues for student financing procedures.
In addition, the Financial Aid Director leads a department with a student centered philosophy and focus that meets high customer performance expectations, a high degree of accuracy, efficient and timely processing of aid, and provides critical support to the campus community and educational partners.
Position Duties
Must be a strong, enthusiastic leader, have the ability to effectively utilize computer systems including hands on knowledge of enterprise resource software similar to Ellucian Banner, and have the ability to promote a positive, productive work environment.
Requires in-depth knowledge and empathy for the financial problems of under-served students and the ability to understand and review student financial statements and tax returns; working knowledge of financial and statistical record keeping techniques, accounting and budgeting; well-developed human relations skills to conduct interviews, training, explain technical concepts to others, and resolve conflict; and strong language and writing skills to prepare reports and professional correspondence.
Education, Experience and Licensure/Certification Requirements
Bachelor's Degree required.
The position requires a minimum of 3 years of experience serving in a leadership capacity in a higher education financial aid office.
Specialized knowledge of Federal, State and local student financial aid, FERPA, regulations, and guidelines.
