Seattle University, a nationally ranked independent Jesuit-Catholic institution located on more than 50 acres in the dynamic heart of Seattle, seeks an ambitious and inspirational Dean for the College of Science and Engineering (CSE). The next Dean will have the opportunity to join Seattle University's fastest growing college and sharpen its strategic focus by capitalizing on its strengths and identifying new areas of energy and innovation to be a nationally recognized STEM community. The next Dean will be a passionate champion of the importance of--and the immense contributions made by--engineering, mathematics, physical and life sciences, and computer science to the world.

Seattle University (SU) seeks candidates who combine respected scholarship and academic achievements with strategic leadership ability, outstanding interpersonal and communication skills, collaborative and creative energy, entrepreneurial ambition, passion for the fields of science and engineering and computer science, and appreciation for the community-engaged learning and research opportunities available to students in the college. CSE supports a teacher-scholar model that integrates teaching and research to benefit undergraduate and graduate students.

The College of Science and Engineering (CSE) is the STEM college at SU and is home to more than 146 full-time and part-time faculty members providing a cutting edge approach to STEM education to more than 1,076 undergraduate and 256 graduate students. The College is committed to sustaining a culture of excellence built around diversity, inclusivity, and work towards equity in advancing opportunities and outcomes. The new dean will inherit a financially healthy school that is poised for continued success and has a variety of assets on which to build. The CSE is home to the recently opened Jim and Janet Sinegal Center for Science and Innovation and the Project Center.

Seattle University was ranked in the top 16 percent of universities nationally in the Wall Street Journal/Times Higher Education College Ranking 2021, moved up 15 spots in the U.S. News & World Report rankings and again made the top 20 for service learning. These latest recognitions follow SU's recent inclusion in the Princeton Review's Best 386 Colleges 2021. Seattle University is the only college in the Northwestern United States to earn a spot in the Princeton Review's 2021 Green Honor Roll of 30 colleges that earned the highest scores by the publication.
