Assistant or Associate Professor appointment in Theater: Playwriting & Musical Theater Book Writing
POSITION: Theater, Playwriting & Musical Theater Book Writing. Full time, tenure track appointment in Theater
RANK/SALARY: Assistant or Associate Professor appointment. Salary commensurate with qualifications and experience
RESPONSIBILITIES: The Theater department seeks an accomplished Teacher/Professional to teach
Playwriting/Book Writing and mentor graduate and undergraduate students. The appointment will be part of the Abbott MFA in Musical Theater Collaboration and the Graduate Playwriting program. Graduate courses may include Playwriting, Adaptation, Lyrics/Book Seminar, Musical Theater Practicum, Teaching Playwriting, Docudrama and Dramaturgy. Undergraduate courses may be any of the above with additional courses as needed. Candidate will also contribute collegially to department life.
QUALIFICATIONS: Demonstrated interest and commitment to teaching in MFA, BFA and BA Degree programs in Theater Studies, Musical Theater and Playwriting. Substantial professional experience in the field. Advanced professional training and minimum of 3 years of successful teaching at the university level is preferred. A successful candidate will be versed in a variety of styles/genres, with the ability to teach pre-professional candidates.

The School of Theater, Film and Media Arts is part of the Center for the Performing and Cinematic Arts at Temple University and is located on the University’s Main Campus in the culturally rich and diverse city of Philadelphia.
