The Assistant Director of the Center for Multicultural Engagement and Inclusion is a creative and passionate student affairs professional who operates from a lens of understanding and prioritizing equity in working with MSU Denver’s diverse students. The Assistant Director has a focus on supporting student leaders who are members of the MSU Denver Fraternity and Sorority Life ( FSL ) community, as well as the Student Government Assembly ( SGA ) but is involved in student engagement work across the CMEI, Student Engagement & Wellness, and the Division of Student Affairs. The Assistant Director is a strategic and student-centered thinker who is also adept at developing effective professional relationships with individual and departments. Note: While this position has focus areas, as outlined in this job description, the successful individual will be an adaptable student engagement generalist who is adept at pivoting to contribute to different program areas and initiatives, as needed.

The Assistant Director is responsible for active advisement of SGA elected leaders. This work is also supported by other administrative leaders within Student Affairs who share advising responsibilities. The Assistant Director works closely with SGA leaders to help them set applicable goals, to facilitate leadership development among the SGA team, and to help the elected leaders effectively carry out their responsibilities as the representative governance organization of MSU Denver’s diverse student body.

The Assistant Director is also responsible for cultivating a strong, inclusive, values-based, and safe FSL community at the University. To this end, the Assistant Director engages in community building, risk management, and leadership development work with existing fraternity and sorority members, and is also responsible for coordinating the relationships with inter/national Greek-letter organizations and umbrella entities ( NALFO, NMGC, NPC, NPHC, NIC, etc.) as well as the process for expansion of the FSL community at the University.

IND208 Duties/Responsibilities
35%- Student Government Assembly ( SGA ) Advising
·Provide active and ongoing advising to SGA elected and appointed leaders. Facilitate leadership development activities and relevant logistical training for SGA leaders.
·Actively challenge SGA leaders to realize their full potential to positively impact the MSU Denver experience for their peers and provide applicable supports to individuals and the team to assist them in carrying out organizational goals.
·Facilitate introductions and strong professional relationships between SGA leaders and relevant University and community contacts.
·Working alongside the elected leaders, and with support from relevant University resources, cultivate an effective, appropriate, and productive climate within the SGA team, including within the SGA office space.
·Regularly review SGA documents (constitution, elections procedures, member handbooks, etc.). Make recommendations for edits and/or substantive changes in support of organizational and/or institutional goals and values.
·Advise and support SGA processes, including elections, transitions and onboarding of officers, and related.
·Serve as the supervisor on record for all paid student SGA roles, including ensuring accountability for hours worked by students in paid SGA roles.
Note: this position will have a work space in the SGA suite.

35%- Fraternity and Sorority Life ( FSL ) Advising
·Serve as the primary point of contact for all fraternity and sorority matters at the University.
·Work with student leaders, national organizations, local advisors, alumni, and applicable University departments to provide infrastructure and support to MSU Denver fraternity/sorority chapters and student leaders.
·Attend, as needed, fraternity and sorority meetings, workshops and programs.
·Provide consultation to chapters regarding programming, new member recruitment procedures and ongoing membership education programs to promote responsible membership and effective chapter management.
·Advise the Council of Fraternal Organizations and facilitate programming designed to create a supportive and helpful community among fraternity and sorority chapters at the University.
·Regularly review University and campus procedures and policies pertaining to and/or impacting fraternities and sororities at the University with attention to risk management, equity and inclusion, and student engagement. As applicable, lead efforts to update or modify policies and procedures in this area. Communicate relevant policy and procedural expectations to students and other relevant parties.
·Coordinate the FSL recognition and accreditation process (annually) and expansion process (as needed).
·In conjunction with relevant campus partners, develop and execute a training and development program for fraternity and sorority members, organizations, and advisors on salient topics to include anti-hazing, substance abuse, and University resources.
·Monitor and support the member education programming conducted by individual fraternity and sorority chapters.

20%- Supervision and Operations
·Supervise student employees who support program operations. Recruit, hire, train, evaluate, and hold employees accountable to performance expectations.
·Monitor allocated budget and expenses.
·Participate in annual budget process to request funding through the Student Affairs Board ( SAB ), which allocates student fees for programs. Support SGA in the same process for the designated SGA budget. Prepare collateral materials to make a compelling case for ongoing funding of programs/operations.

10%- Assessment & Planning
·Track student participation, assess student learning, and manage data for program areas above, and in other areas related to student engagement, as requested.
·Contribute to strategic planning, including playing a leadership role in thoughtful scaled future planning for SGA and FSL . Required Qualifications
• Bachelor’s Degree
• Experience working with student leaders in a college/university setting
• Experience working with groups of college students
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills

• Earned Master’s Degree in higher education administration, student affairs, education leadership, counseling, social work, or a related field
• Demonstrated experience impacting equity and social justice outcomes
• Experience advising a student governance group
• Professional experience working to advise or otherwise support fraternities and/or sororities
• Experience conducting program assessment or program evaluation for improvement Work Hours
