Assistant Professor of Practice in Industrial Design, non-tenured track position
Full-Time, Start Date: August 15, 2022
Responsibilities: Teach a range of undergraduate and/or graduate courses in the Industrial Design program (up to eight classes per academic year) and to remain active in the Industrial Design profession including areas such as: product design, exhibition design, vehicle design, furniture design, user experience/service design and packaging design; participation in usual departmental activities, course development, and to serve on departmental and university committees.
Qualifications: The candidates must have a terminal degree (MFA, PhD) in Industrial Design or related area. Demonstrated professional or research practice, as well as demonstrated experience teaching. Successful candidates will also be comfortable advising and engaging the students with professionals in industrial design and related fields of practice.
Program/Department/School: The Industrial Design program is composed of five faculty members with a wide range of expertise and offers a four-year undergraduate BFA degree and an MFA at the graduate level. The program is accredited by NASAD. The Industrial Design program now graduates 24 students each year with over 90% placement in industry.
