Job Description Summary
The Department of Clinical Sciences at the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine is seeking applicants to fill a full-time, 12-month appointment. Depending on experience, qualifications and interest, the successful candidate will be appointed to either a tenure-track (Assistant/Associate/Full Professor) or non-tenure track (Clinical Assistant/Associate/Full Professor) position in Equine Internal Medicine.
The successful candidate will be expected to participate in teaching and clinical service. Teaching responsibilities include the clinical and didactic instructional activities of the professional veterinary medicine and postgraduate training programs related to equine internal medicine. Clinical service and research responsibilities are negotiable and will depend on the successful candidate’s interests and the type of appointment, i.e., clinical vs. tenure track. Ample opportunity exists to participate in established research programs on campus.
Minimum Qualifications
The qualified applicant must hold a DVM or equivalent degree, have completed, or be enrolled in, residency training in the American College of Veterinary Internal Medicine in the specialty of Large Animal Internal Medicine ( ACVIM -LA) or the European College of Equine Internal Medicine ( ECEIM ), and either be a Diplomate of the ACVIM or ECEIM, or be qualified to sit for the ACVIM or ECEIM specialty examination. These qualifications must be met at the time employment begins. For a tenure-track position, a PhD and record of research productivity is desired. The candidate selected for this position must be able to meet eligibility requirements to work in the United States at the time the appointment is scheduled to begin and continue working legally for the proposed term of employment. Excellent communication skills are required in small group as well as large lecture hall settings. Eligibility for faculty veterinary licensure in the State of Alabama is also required.
